Microchip information

It takes only seconds to protect your pet with a microchip. The process is very similar to a normal injection and most animals do not feel a thing!

The microchip implant site on most animals is between the shoulder blades.

The microchip itself (pictured right) is very small and encased in a protective capsule coated with a special substance which promotes tissue growth around the chip, this prevents migration and ensures the chip remains where it was placed.

Pet-Chip uses the latest technology from Germany. The FDX-B chips and can be read by all ISO scanners in the UK and EU. Perfect for PETS travel.

The microchip is completely passive and does not give out any signals. Only the scanners send signals and if a chip is present the unique number shows up on the scanner's screen.

Every chip has a completely unique number and this is how each animal can be identified once scanned.

If your pet is identified with a chip Petlog, the 24hr database will be contacted and your pets microchip number will confirm your address and details so you can be reunited!

Hope to hear from you soon!
Size of a microchip, compared with a grain of rice!
If you travel abroad with your animal you must have a microchip to comply with regulations.

There is an international network of scanners and if your pet is found it is now standard procedure to check for a microchip. Scanners are used by local authorities, Vets, Animal Welfare Organisations and rehoming centres so there is a good chance your animal will find its way back to you!

Once microchipped your pet is registered for life, just remember to let petlog (the national database) know any change of address.
